America’s First Nationally Accredited College of Hypnotherapy

(Exercising Your Mind) The Hypnosis Motivation Institute (HMI), located in Tarzana, California, is America’s first nationally accredited college of hypnotherapy.

HMI was founded in 1968 by Dr. John Kappas.

It is an outstanding establishment that I think more people should know about.

I began training at HMI as a 101 student on November 4th of 2004. 24 days later on the 28th, I hypnotized a curious volunteer in less than five minutes reading directly from one of Dr. Kappas’ books, “The Professional Hypnotism Manual.”

Each one of my course instructors at HMI are all experienced professional hypnotherapists.

Many, if not all of the instructors teach classes between delivering hypnotherapy sessions at the on-site clinic.

Some of the course subjects featured are Therapeutic Imagery, Neuro-Linguistic Programming, and Ericksonian Hypnosis, named after Milton Erickson who’s contributions to the hypnotic field led to the acceptance of hypnosis as a tool for medicine and dentistry by the American Medical Association in 1958.

As a student, I was mentored by one of the working hypnotherapists from 301 throughout my six-month 501 clinical residency and internship.

One of the formidable features of HMI’s course work is the study of the founder’s Kappassinian Hypnosis.

This includes the testing and rating scale based on Emotional and Physical Theory of Suggestibility and Behavior; The Mental Bank Concept, and the indispensable Theory of Mind.

Dr. Kappas’ definition of the hypnotherapy profession is the official Federal Dictionary of Occupational Title’s description of the practice.

One of the most important realizations I was guided to at HMI was the fact that we can be aware of and control our own natural hypnotic states.

I volunteered to be hypnotized in front of the class during my first night of classes. Even though I knew I could have easily resisted the trance induction, I peacefully complied.

During the arm raising induction my hands seemingly levitated without my direct willing and stuck to my face.

After a brief deepening technique that I was fully aware of, I was counted out of the trance with numbers from zero to five.

I “awoke” in a familiar yet almost forgotten aware and comfortably alert state of mind.

I was immediately empowered with an experience that has been a driving motivation ever since.

There are advanced and continuing education courses at the Hypnosis Motivation Institute for Master Practitioner training in NLP, Handwriting Analysis, Therapeutic Imagery, Past Life Hypnosis, Smoking Cessation and others.

The library features many tools for effective practice building and material for researchers. In addition, there are many special workshops, guest speakers and presentations.

Anyone seeking vocational or avocational motivation and self-improvement might consider an HMI trained and certified Clinical Hypnotherapist.

You will understand the theory of mind from an intellectual and experiential perspective that will inspire you after just one session.

The Hypnosis Motivation Institute is providing a remarkable service by training professional therapists to teach others about the wonderful benefits of learning, understanding and using hypnosis and hypnotherapy.

I am convinced of the constructive applications of hypnosis through my successful experiences as a hypnosis student, client and facilitator.

The Hypnosis Motivation Institute has successfully provided me with a thorough understanding of an extensive and wide-ranging field.

It is so exciting to apply hypno-analysis to memory, motivation, learning and behavioral science.

Hypno-analysis has also served to access past lives, spirit-guides and other metaphysical and paranormal research.

Thanks to HMI, I am confidently enjoying the diverse applications and marvelous benefits of hypnosis for motivation and self-improvement.
